BBO Helper intercepts all traffic between you and Bridge Base Online (BBO) in order to provide core functionality. However, it does not collect this information or transmit it to third parties except when querying Bridge Solver Online (BSOL) for double dummy information. BSOL receives the four hands, the vulnerability, and usually the board number, auction, player handles, and card play, i.e. the board in LIN format.
BBO Helper allows users to export certain data to the clipboard or to files on their computer. If you share the exported data with others, they will have access to information that some users may regard as private. See below.
Board copy-and-paste aid
Boards copied to the clipboard may contain BBO handles, player names, hands, record of card play, timing information, etc. What you see on screen is what is copied. Users who wish to share boards with greater anonymity may easily alter the HTML pasted into the embedding document, for example by changing player handles to designations such as “me”, “partner”, LHO and RHO.
Portable Bridge Notation (PBN) export
Boards exported in PBN format contain BBO handles, hands, the auction, when the board was played, and may contain a record of card play and timing information.
BBO traffic export (advanced feature)
Most users will not export BBO traffic to HTML files. This function is primarily an aid to developing BBO Helper and in some cases troubleshooting issues users have with the software by allowing users to e-mail their BBO traffic to me.
Exported BBO traffic will identify your BBO handle, and include a full record of your actions on BBO, including chat logs, from the time the tab is opened (or last refreshed). In the default configuration, traffic logs replace your password with ********. If you explicitly change this setting, traffic logs will contain your password.
