Elizabeth Granby (0-5), Anant Rathi (200-300), and Paul Darin (2500-5000) all convincing won their Mini-McKenney brackets. Sally Hall was just behind Irene Snowle in the 50-100 Mini-McKenney bracket and Dale Phillips was not far behind Peter Clarke in the 100-200 Mini-McKenney bracket.

Paul Darin also won his Mini-McKenney bracket at the district level and placed fourth nationally. Peter Clark was second in his bracket at the district level in both contests.

I’m embarrassed to say that I won my bracket (300-500). I didn’t try at all, barely playing last year, picking up half the total at the La Jolla unit game. Mike Munson was third but he has a young child now. What excuses do the others have for letting me win this bracket?

Lamya Agelidis, current president of the San Diego unit, won her 500-1000 Mini-McKenney bracket at the national level with 597.40 MP, edging out Elaine Chan’s son, Alexander Prairie, who picked up 540.68 MP in the Washington, D.C area. Jim Johnson, also of the San Diego unit and a regular partner of Lamya, was second in the 1000-2500 Mini-McKenney bracket, just ahead of Sylvia Shi, Alex Prairie’s regular partner.

The Mini-McKenney counts total masterpoints earned for the year and the Ace of Clubs counts only masterpoints earned at clubs as opposed to sectionals, regionals, and nationals. There are multiple brackets for each race based on the number of masterpoints a player has at the start of the year.
